Rockin' Out The Projects

Time to check in an let us see what you are working on. Join our facebook event and share a picture (one per person please) and description of what you are working on. These are projects for Christmas presents, not just current things you are doing for orders. The point of this project is to encourage everyone, especially myself, to work on Christmas gifts a little each month.
In addition to our monthly sign in events, I am setting up a Ravelry group so we can keep in contact all month long and share tips, ideas, suggestions, etc. This will also be a way for those continually working on things to be rewarded as well. I should have the group finished really soon and will post the link for those that want to join. It is totally optional and up to you if you want to join.
Keep up the great work! I am excited to see what you have been doing.

Haven't started yet or have no idea what I am talking about? Check out past posts and get started today! Each month I will randomly give away things too.

Handmade Gifts

I was raised to appreciate handmade gifts. At first I thought it was just my parent's way of being nice when I couldn't afford to buy fancy presents. They always said they would rather have something I made then something I bought because of the time and effort put into it. Over the years I have come to appreciate handmade things so much more and understand their feelings. It means a lot to me when someone takes the time to share their talent.
Each year I search for just the right thing to make. This year I thought of a unique gift for a group of friends or family.
In a few weeks I will share my idea with you. In the meantime, I need your help. Please fill out the form below:

Crocheted Cream

One of my favorite things to give to teachers and neighbors during the holidays is a "cup of cocoa". Throughout the year I collect Christmasy and winter-looking mugs from thrift stores for .25-.50 each. Then I put together this fun gift, complete with cocoa mix, a chocolate dipped spoon for stirring and whipped cream....which is actually a crocheted scrubbie. The free pattern, called "Red Carnation Pot Scrubber" is a wonderful creation by Priscilla Hewitt. Made from white cotton yarn, it is a fun addition to the gift. Its a quick project and one you can work on throughout the year while in the car, watching tv, waiting for kids, etc. It also makes a great bath pouf and baby scrubbie. The pattern is also available on Ravelry.
I received a similar one a few years ago with a cute note attached which read:
The legend of the snowflake
Long ago,
A gleaming star led the way to a
Child born in a manger.
Today it is believed that
Snowflakes are little pieces of that
special start that leads us to
The Light of the World - Jesus.

Doing boutiques? Make the scrubbies and attach the saying, typed on a cute tag or make up the mug sets and wrap in cellophane so its ready for giving.
