Leaf for Emmy's Halo
An easier version of the leaf and video help. Video is kind of corny, but hope it helps.
Leaves (the sample of the full halo has one large and two small leaves.)
For small leaves, use a G hook. For larger leaves, use an I hook.
Note: these are created with a stitch similar to the crocodile stitch.
With hook and worsted weight yarn, ch 5, dc in 3rd ch from
hook, sk 1, ch 1, 2dc in last ch, ch 1, turn.
1. Working around the second dc post from previous step, 4dc, 1 tr. Now,
turn the piece, working around next post, 1 tr, 4dc. You will be creating a u shape, ch 1, turn,
2. Sc 2, hdc 2, 2dc in next st, ch 1, 2dc in next st,
hdc 2, sc to end. Sl st in st on other edge of leaf (first st of current row). This
will pull the bottom together. Finish off, leaving a tail for attaching to
band.
