Countdown CAL: spotlight patterns

While searching for great freebies for our CAL, I came across some WONDERFUL patterns for sale also. I have saved them for the last and created a post just for the non-freebies-but-wonderful patterns. Not all are flat items, to be used on all advents.

One of the things that made me decide I wanted to crochet an advent calender was a GREAT shop, Everlaughter. Her adorable appliques are perfect for this project. Tricia donated a gingerbread pattern for our event. She has a TON of designs that would make cute ornaments, package ties and parts of our calendars.
Click here for information about this pattern.
I love little trucks and toys on advent calendars. They also add a cute touch to gift tags.
Click here for this FREE pattern from Everlaughter.
For cat lovers (or hello kitty fans like myself), this freebie is a must.

While searching for religious themed items, I came across this wonderful set by Gourmet Crochet. It is a modern look for a timeless addition to Christmas.

THIS is what I am making for my advent calendar! I am making mine from worsted weight yarn (instead of thread like pattern calls for). I LOVE it!!

Day 25: Countdown CAL

For information about our Countdown to Christmas Advent Cal, please read "Day 1"

Thank you for participating in our event. I have thoroughly enjoyed finding amazing patterns and working with wonderful designers. I hope you have enjoyed these fun and quick projects. If you haven't started, that's ok. Plan now for next year.
For our last day, I would like to include some religious items. I feel it is important to keep the true meaning of Christmas alive. I was very happy to receive a lot of requests for crosses. If you have a favorite religious themed pattern you would like to share, PLEASE email heidi@snappy-tots.com.
If you would prefer to not include one of these items, please feel free to substitute one of the options from a previous day.

This beautiful cross is a bookmark from Crochet N' More, but without the tassel would make a great addition to our project.

Beanies always accepted

I got a message tonight from a wonderful lady. She has a friend whose brother was recently injured by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan while serving in the military. She asked if it would be possible for the BFB (Beanies for Bravery Project) to send beanies to these soldiers who lost most of their possessions in the attack.
Thanks to so many of you I have enough hats and notes to send! I am extremely thankful for each and every handmade beanie I receive every single week. I also received a stack of letters/pictures from a local 5th grade class. These will be put with each beanie and sent asap.
I am very thankful for this project. I am thankful we have been able to send over 1200 beanies since August 2011.
Our soldiers are cold and could use a boost from home. Please consider making a hat for a soldier. I will be sending them through March. If you know of an Army soldier overseas who we could send hats and letters to please email heidi@snappy-tots.com.
For information about our project, please read posts below this one. Thank you.

Sassy Variations

I LOVE when snappy peeps come up with variations of my patterns. I will be featuring different shops that step out of the box and put their own snappy spin on my designs.

Our first featured shop is "The Sassy Hooker". Owner Melissa Johnson has been a snappy friend for over a year. I consider her a "headband queen" because she has made more bands then I have I think!
Melissa first stood out to me with this amazing photo of her daughter's cross country team. It is still one of my all time favorite pix! She really brought to life my Animal Bands pattern.
"The Sassy Hooker" takes custom orders on Etsy too, featuring hats size newborn to adult!
Her latest headbands are some of my most favorite! Based on my "Feathered Fowl Pack", these variations are perfect for the holiday season. Bands were all made using parts from the pattern, plus "Christmas Thief". She sells these bands for $12-15. What a bargain!
Please stop by and say hi to one of our fellow creative crocheters. Her facebook page is new and needs a snappy attack to add some likes.
Thanks Melissa for sharing your fun flair for snappy variations!
