One of my favorite things is our monthly contests. I love how creative everyone is. Because this is such a busy time of year we wont be having another contest until after the first of the year. Since I announced that in October I have received a TON of requests to do a contest. Well, after lots of thought I have decided to have one...kinda.
A couple of years ago my husband made us all start wearing "ugly" Christmas sweaters on Christmas Eve. That "ugly" word bugs me because most of the sweaters are super cute and some look like ones we used to wear each holiday season working at my mom's gift store. So we call them our "wacky" or "crazy" sweaters. As I started thinking about this years sweaters I thought, "hey, what about adding a hat too?"...and I am kind of like those "Give a Mouse a Cookie" books. If I'm going to make a hat, then it will have to be wacky too...and if it's going to be wacky I will want to share it with my snappy peeps...and if I share it with my snappy peeps they will want to make one too!...and so it was born...

Day 4: Treat Bags
Today's treat bag is a steaming pumpkin by Sally Korneychuk. "My granddaughter asked me to make her a little bag so that she could put treats in that she is allowed for the day." What a cute idea! She used the Bumble Bug pattern, making only one handle.
Thanks Sally for a quick and easy idea!

Day 3: Treat Bags
One of my favorite Halloween patterns has been turned into an awesome trick or treat bag by Lisa of Tadpoles and Lily Pad Crochet. Please visit her shop and thank her for sharing.
What a fun idea!
"I used the Frankies bride pattern! Instead of closing up the top of the purple I chained 40 then joined. I sewed the bottom of the hat to make it into a small bag for my daughter. I used red heart super saver in lavender, dayglow, black, maroon and white. I love this pattern! It was a lot of fun to make :)"

Ducks of Sandy Hook
If you are a snappy peep, then you know we sent over 1500 handmade beanies to Sandy Hook Elementary last month. I am still hoping for pix of some kind and will share any I receive.
A few days ago, after posting about our event coming up in May involving rubber ducks dressed in sweaters, I received an email from my Sandy Hook contact. She shared a few links and asked I pass them along. Sandy Hook is sharing rubber ducks and bringing some joy to their school. I have been looking through pix on their facebook page, The Ducks of Sandy Hook Elementary. Take a few minutes to read what they are doing.
Here are a few other articles about Sandy Hook Ducks:
Helping Newtown Children Heal
Getting Involved
Sandy Hook is asking for duck donations.
A note from the resource officer that started this event:
I am assigned to the Sandy Hook School as the school based police officer. A donor had sent approximately 500 small rubber ducks, which the kids loved immensely. My counterpart and I spread them out everyday in the lobby of the school kids, and yes adults, take them to keep. The joy the ducks bring to everyone can not be put into words. We plan to keep buying ducks and placing them out everyday as long as the school is in use. Anyone that would like to help us with the purchasing of the ducks, your help is greatly appreciated. If you would like to send a monetary donation or order ducks contact me and I will provide an address (address below was provided after this original post). Everyone in the school enjoys the ducks and we never want to have to tell anyone we don't have any to give them, child or adult.
Here is the address to send ducks to:
